9 Ways to Beat the January blues

Am I the only one person that loves January? I love the Promise of fresh starts, and the year streatching out like blank page before us. I love making resolutions and the journey to smash them. If you’re starting to see those pesky January Blues creeping up on you, I am here to help!!! I’ve made a list of ways to beat the January Blues.

1 – Have a pamper night! I start with a face mask and then a bubble bath! Don’t tell me you didn’t get any bubble baths for christmas, and I’m pretty sure everyone keeps a stash of face masks handy. So this is usually my go to for a perk me up. My fave scent is the pink grapefruit from the body shop.

2 – Get your hair done! Even if its just for a fresh trim, a blowdry, or a full on January revamp. Nothing beats the feeling you get when you get your hair done! I may have went for a full on January revamp and im feeling like a new woman!!!

3 – Go on a Date Night to the Cinema! Nothing beats getting lost in a movie and munching on some tasty popcorn and cinema snacks.

4 – Have the girls over for a girly night, weather its for a coffee or cocktails you know it will boost your spirits.

5 – Keep busy by making a start on your resolutions. Ive been cooking more, trying to make at least one new recipe a week and I’m really enjoying being prepared with lunches, …. so far I’ve broke my oven.. But thats another story.

6 – Netflix and chill… You’re already paying for your subscription (or your friend is) so you might aswell make the most of it on the dark cool nights.

7 – Go for a walk, simple and its a great way to get out in the fresh air and explore. or just to get your head cleared.

8 – Read a book, I’m in a book club and this keeps me entertained all the time , I’ve read a few books I would never have looked at and really enjoyed them. There’s always a book waiting in my bag or on my phone, If its in a waiting room, while I’m having coffee or before I go to bed. There’s nothing like getting lost in a good book.

9 –  Start a new hobby, something you’ve never done before and always wanted to. Learning a  new skill or just getting out and putting your focus into something new is a great way to distract yourself from feeling miserable because it’s January.

Let me know if you found this helpful, or if you have any good ideas yourself.

2019 Is Gona be my Year!

The start of a new year means something different to everyone, maybe you’re glad to see the back of the last year or like me excited for what the new year brings. Or you just don’t care, it’s only another day really!

The things I love about a new year are pretty simple, I’m not big on a NYE party or celebrations, I love to get started on a new diary and find it so therapeutic filling in all my appointments and dates to remember. I love the fresh feeling like the start of a month only bigger. And I just love making New Years resolutions.

Now I didn’t always make realistic ones (I’ve long given up on being a fitness fanatic by next January) but I generally try and do something to push me out of my comfort zone, or perhaps just try and do something to make me feel a bit better about myself. But the past few years I try and make them achievable

2018 I most definitely smashed my resolutions, I started my YouTube channel, started to blog, joined a book club And made an attempt at hosting a monthly get together (we got January) I was more sociable and and decided not to care as much about other peoples opinion of me. I’ve met some amazing people this year and definitely made some awesome friends along the way. All because i made some resolutions last year!

Well this year I’ve made 6!  I’ve wrote them down. And even made a nice backround for my phone to keep reminding myself to stay on track. So here they are…

1 – Become a Domestic goddess… Fingers crossed very soon we will be in our new house, and my intention is that it is always going to be neat and tidy and clean, for the time being i’m practicing all my Hinching techniques… so far so good.

2 – Join a creative writing class… Obviously to up my blogging game! This is something I always say i’m going to do so i’m finally going to bite the bullet and join one, My local Library do a class once a month so im starting there.

3 – Learn to Sew… My Mum and sister can sew and sometimes I feel like I missed out on  this talent, but then again i’ve never sat down and tried to sew. I’d love to be able to alter my clothes. As of yet I havent seen any classes locally. (if anybody knows of any let me know)

4 – Save loadsa money… Because who doesn’t want to be better at saving… And it might come in handy in the new house because I clearly have expensive taste when it comes to home decor.

5 – Learn to cook… I SUCK at cooking. I Burn everything, and I would just like to cook a meal without worrying that i’m going to poison my hubby. We’re planning to cook more together, and hopefully this will help with number 5.

6 – Be more Sexy….well who doesn’t?

Have you made any resolutions? how are you planning on keeping them? I’d love to know your tips…… XOXO OfficialJudeMitch

The hunt for the perfect 2019 diary

Hey my names Jude and I’m a stationery addict! I can’t leave a shop without browsing the stationary isle and overturning EVERY. SINGLE. NOTEBOOK!! Then there’s the pens.. (I’m getting dizzy even writing this) and I always have to leave with something to add to my collection, even if it’s only a rubber!

But saying that every year my favourite but most stressful task is finding thee perfect diary! The diary hunt! This usually starts around September or October and I hunt until I find the perfect one! Last year it was 2nd January when I finally laid hands on my diary! Browsing tkmaxx I stumbled upon the most interesting diaries I’ve ever seen. It had room for notes (completely kidding myself I wasn’t going to buy any more notebooks now I had one at the back of my diary) it was something a bit more out of the ordinary and I just loved it!

The hunt is by no means a simple task as I’m sure you know! We all have a list of things our ideal diary MUST HAVE! The perfect size (a5 for me) days per page, cover type, And colour and style etc.. because this diary will have to be with us for a whole year!! This is a serious commitment.

Here’s a few of my favourites I’ve seen so far this hunting season:

paperchase Abstract

Papier Beau

Cath Kidston Glitter Diary

Good news tho! Ive found my diary, beautiful Collins diary from tkmaxx and it’s literally perfect! Day to a page, baby blue, a5, spiral bound… the list goes on!

Happy hunting

Get Party Night Ready with HighMaintenance

Sooo with the Christmas party night season looming I thought I would share with you all how to dazzle at your Christmas party this season with the help of HighMaintenance of course!! High Maintenance Facebook Page

* Make sure you get your party Hair and makeup appointments booked asap, as well as your colour (now you can’t be celebrating in style with roots now can you?)

* Now that any trace of roots are gone from memory, its time to get your skin prepped for the big night! I recommend a good body scrub and body butter, my personal fave is the Body Shop Brazilian Cupuacu Scrub-in Oil and the Hawaiian Kukui Cream (they come in a gift set for £40.00) Now if you didn’t already know myself (Jude) and Natalie are both Body Shop at Home Consultants so you can brows the catalogue  (with a cuppa off course) wile we banish your roots!! This scrub is fab for getting a nice even tan as it will banish and dead skin or left over tan, without making your skin feel dry or sore. the body cream takes you back to a spa and is super rich without being heavy or greasy. I apply an extra helping to my elbows, knees and feet the week before I tan. Here’s  The body shop at home online catalogue

* TAN!! our fave is off-course the amazing Bperfecct range, they have something to suit everyone, from medium coconut spray to ultra dark mango mousse and they have the most amazingly soft mitt to help you apply the perfect streak free tan. They also have a back applicator if you don’t have a helping hand at home!

What I do for best results, apply your tan two days before the big day, on Clean dry skin. spray or pump onto your mitt and apply in even strokes, wait ten seconds and you are good to go! I like to wear baggy Pyjama’s with long sleeves so I don’t mark anything (more a habit than everything as Bperfect doesn’t transfer) The next morning I just rinse off the guide colour and apply my moisturiser as usual.

* Lets talk about Eyelashes!! Eldora False Eyelashes!! we are Just obsessed with these guys. and as always we wouldn’t sell to you anything that has not been 100% approved by us! With the perfect mix of natural, fluffy and mega dramatic lashes for you to pick from. and with prices ranging from £5.50 – £9.50 they won’t break the bank either. The best thing about them! They’re re-usable and can be worn umpteen times with the right care and attention.

* The Week before is also the perfect time for  little face pamper! A good skin care routine is key to great skin. As well as the perfect base for great makeup. Make sure you have cleansed and exfoliated correctly the day before your makeup appointment. As well as properly cleansing and moisturising the day of your appointment.

If you’re getting curls or an upstyle for your party, make sure you wash your hair the night before. so it is clean and will take shape better!

* Arrive to your appointment on time!

* HAVE A GREAT NIGHT! And take lots of pictures for us!!

INGLOT unveiled?!

July 17th 2018

Hmmm now this one might not be a popular opinion but this is MY opinion on the whole INGLOT unveiled type scandal going around Instagram at the moment.

on the one side I can completely sympathise with a lot of the girls who feel victimised or bullied or who feel that the working conditions weren’t good (and if it was as you say there is a better way to deal with it that on social media!) But the other side I’m looking at it from my eyes. A business owner and a past shop worker.

Things like this come up every now and again and it actually makes my blood boil, the way some people use social media to put their views across which is totally fine but when it gets to the stage where it is also really harming someone else’s reputation that they’ve worked very hard to get, not to mention paved the way for smaller bloggers or influencers thats when I think you should draw the line and just stop.

I’ve watched Jane avidly over the years from I discovered INGLOT as a brand and I truly admire her, she is in fact a Boss lady everyone could take some inspiration from daily! now this isn’t me sucking up to anyone because I very much doubt Jane knows who I am. and I’m actually quite shocked to see this all come about because any other scandal has been kept hush hush as I think it should be in any company. Especially when I imagine INGLOT in Ireland possibly has hundreds of employees therefore has hundreds of egos! There’s bound to be disputes and we all know just how bitchy a bunch of girls can get! And I know for a fact there is no way I could cope with that!

I’ve seen Jane push makeup artists and see they’re very well looked after, I’ve seen her promote her artists on social media, help them grow a following and then seen it be thrown back I her face when they leave with a good clientele or following that she helped them get!

Someone mentioned that INGLOT girls were not allowed to promote other brands, well doesn’t that make sense? I’d be pretty cross if any of our employees were promoting another hair salon or a different brand! To me if you’re representing a brand or company that would be a given.

Bullying in the work place! well this is a good one. I think now a days (gosh don’t I sound old) the word bully or bulling gets thrown around and is used waaay to much, the same as anxiety, and I sincerely apologise if you do genuinely feel bullied or do genuinely have anxiety. But it seems now you aint anybody if you’ve got through life without having experienced either. It seems like if you don’t do well somewhere you couldn’t dare own up and say my bad I didn’t work hard enough or I got reprimanded, no you claim you get bullied! And to throw that into the mix now, what you’re doing by starting a hate campaign against someone is in fact bullying!!

I read on one of the posts about someone being reported by a friend of the owner for chatting and not working….ummm its called work for a reason! its not called hanging out with my mates time! It actually really annoys me when I’m in a shop or eating out somewhere and feel like I’m invisible because the three or four staff that are on their shift just want to giggle and gossip among each other. so if I knew who to report that to every time I was out you think I wouldn’t?? And if my friend owned a makeup empire and I noticed her staff slacking I’d be letting her know!

Also the same goes for the girl who claimed she ONLY got an hour break on a Saturday! girl wana switch places with me? want to know what I done last Saturday on my lunch?? I cleaned the toiled and washed the dishes while trying to eat a wrap and down a cup of luke warm coffee, in between my clients. Some girls wouldn’t know a full days work if it came up and bit them in the bum!! This is my genuine opinion of the generations coming up into the workforce now. They look at you funny if you ask them to sweep the floor, which in a salon is where you’ll be starting off, and still 12 years down the line you will still see me sweeping the floor.

This attitude of the worker is always right, the rules don’t apply to me and how dare you make me actually work for a living is in fact the destruction of the work force and the youth of today. I don’t know where you get it from but someone has to put a stop to it! before the whole of man kind can’t function because our mummies are no longer here to hold our hands and tell us it wasn’t our fault it was everyone else! They are like spoilt children, if They don’t get their own way they’ll huff and puff untill they do get their own way, or if not they’ll bring you down with them!

I also assume that it can’t be that bad when some of you guys claim to have been working for 6 years, I don’t know about you but if I was truly miserable somewhere I doubt I wouldn’t be there 6 months let alone 6 years.

There’s also serious whiff of Jealousy that some girls get promoted over others on Instagram…where would you all be if Instagram shit itself and died overnight? its not what the world revolves around (need to remind myself of that sometimes too) also others get promotions over other girls….um duh that’s the real world! you cant just climb to the top just because you want to. That is where you have to work hard to prove you’re up for the job!

As I said at the beginning this is only my opinion but I know that I’ll continue to be an INGLOTADDICT and support the brand.

XOXO Jude

Doing it the Forever way

Recently I was invited by the lovely Singlesara7 to her Launch night ‘Doing it the Forever way’ for her new business venture Forever Living. It was held in the Blind Cobbler in Omagh and we were greeted with bubbling prosecco and cocktails on arrival. There was a fine spread of nibbles covering healthy options to something sweet and savoury nibbles.

Off course knowing Sara there were some great games to get everyone involved in and warmed up (I was feeling very lucky and won two) obviously there was a fine array of the forever living aloe vera products and Sara went over her favourites and explained the benefits of each one.

I re-purchased my Forever aloe vera gel, (that is a firm staple in my morning routine) and was chuffed to bits because I won a lip balm! I like to keep their lip balms handy at ALL times, they’re super handy for cracked or dry lips. especially in this changing weather.

For more info about the benefits of aloe vera, give Sara’s facebook page a like here Forever with Sara

INGLOT NC Palett

Aaaagh on Wednesday 16th August I had the most amazing time at the INGLOT x Niamh Cleary palette launch in Dublin.
I was invited down by Jane Swarbrigg (she knows who I am. Waaaat) I was sooo thrilled to be invited, as you all know I’m a big INGLOT addict!! And just loooove their eyeshadows so much.

What an eventful journey to Dublin it was, we drove to Portadown and got the train! The sun was splitting the trees when we left Portadown, while on the train I realised I forgot to change into my sparkly shoes before I got on the train. (Sad face) I had planned to do the finishing touches to my makeup on the train, I realised I brought two different eyelashes instead of one pair. (Duuuu Jude) I forgot eyeliner! The list goes on (I also had horrible coffee on the train)

As the train was Coming into Dublin we noticed the dark grey sky and the pelting rain and we laughed nervously, because we were most definitely dressed for the summer weather! And we got SOAKED!! But we were determined not to let it ruin our spirits! We hadn’t a clue how to get from the train station to the venue, eventually we got a bus, and another bus, and nearly died on the second one! It was an interesting ride! We did however meet a lovely lady at the bus stop who told us exactly where to get off the bus!

We arrived at the venue House, and it just looked so cool before we even got in, we walked through a lovely bar/lounge area. Quickly found the toilets to try and salvage our hair and makeup!

We got checked in and received our goodie bags (eeeeee) then we were shown the bar where there was a row of gorgeous looking pink gin and tonics sitting waiting for us!

There had sweeties all around (result) and a candy floss stand! (No guesses where I was found) They also had a team doing hair braids and curls (thankfully I got my hair re curled) and henna by Hanna (I’m obsessed with it) and off course the lovely girlies from INGLOT were on hand showcasing the makeup and sparkles!

I had such a good time, I felt like it was such a relaxed evening and everyone’s style was amazing. I do love checking out everyone’s outfits. And the highlight of my night was definitely meeting Jane and Niamh they’re so friendly and took the tome to talk to everyone!

I knew Niamh’s palette was going to be good but I was more than impressed when I seen it! The colours are an amazing mix and there’s two new colours exclusive to INGLOT Ireland. I was pretty sure it was going to include pinks or purples. And the two shimmery colours I’m obsessed with them and have used them as highlighter!

The pallet retails at €40.00 I think that’s aground £35ish… here’s the link to buy it (I think you should) INGLOT NC Palette

Our First Book Club

August 30th 2018

Never did I imagine I would be so buzzing after reading a book!
Well at the ripe old age of 29, I’ve only gone and done it! I’ve joined a book club! And I friggin love it!

It’s not just about the books and the reading! It’s about the meeting up with a few girlies and getting a chatter and a fun night out of the house!

Our first book club was held at Julie’s house! And boy was she the hostess with the mostest! On arrival we were all gifted with the cutest little hand made bookmarks by Claire!

Julie had put on a fine spread for us all! She had nibbles, Christ’s and dips and a lovely sparkling prosecco with little strawberries in them (very instagramable).., then she brought out the coffee and cakes! And i’m just obsessed with this little bookmark made by Claire! its sooo cute and such a thoughtfull little gift!

So basically we all have read the book and meet up to discuss. And as you would expect a room of 6 girlies we off course get a little off track! But we did definitely
discuss the book!! It’s quite interesting to see everybody’s views of the book.

Our next book is Eleanor Oliphant is completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
